VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR AP EXAMS
We are still in need of multiple volunteers to help monitor this
year's AP Exams. Please use the link below to sign up for one or
more shifts. Be sure you do not sign up for an exam that YOUR
STUDENT is taking.
SOS Club Teacher
Teacher Appreciation week is coming up, and LASA's Sending Out
Support (SOS) Club is making gifts/cards to thank all of LASA's
hardworking teachers! SOS would greatly appreciate donations for
the packages through their sign-up genius,www.SignUpGenius.com/go/10C0B4EAEAA2CAAF49-teachers . Any
donations can be brought to Room 236 for the next two weeks. Thank
you so much for your help!
Donation drive for the Austin
Children's Shelter 04/24-05/05
The LASA Junior Liaison Board (part of the National Honor Society)
is hosting a donation drive for the Austin Children's Shelter
04/24-05/05. Boxes for donations are located in the front office.
-Food: cereal, oatmeal, rice, beans, canned
fruit, flour, peanut butter, jelly
-Hygiene: socks (children), deodorant,
toothpaste/toothbrushes, feminine products, soap (unopened)
-Children's items: nonviolent books/picture
books, art supplies, books in Spanish or by African American
-Misc: Black hair care products,
sheets, pillows, clothing (gently used), gift cards
The special LASA CAC meeting scheduled for 4/24 was cancelled. The
next regularly scheduled CAC meeting will be held on Wednesday, May
PFLASA Wellness Lunch
LGBTQ+ YOUTH in K-12 EDUCATION
Thursday, April 27, 11:20am - Noon in the Band
Hall. Meet us at lunchtime to hear from a LASA staff Wellness
Counselor. Parents, Students, and Staff invited to attend this
discussion facilitated with the local chapter of GLSEN, a
non-profit organization that works to ensure that LGBTQ (lesbian,
gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) students are
able to learn and grow in a school environment free from

LBJ/LASA First Ladies Spring
The award winning First Ladies dance team presents their spring
show "Youth" at 7pm on Thursday, April 27 and Friday, April 28 in
the Theater. Watch for ticket information coming soon!
|COFFEEHOUSE 2017 IS FAST
So, what is Coffeehouse?
Coffeehouse is a unique LASA event. Think of a mini Austin
City Limits under the stars! It's our very own student talent show
/ evening of entertainment held at a private outdoor location away
from school. LASA students, alumni, and families all attend for an
enjoyable evening of entertainment and socializing.
Corey Snyder, who teaches the song writing class at LASA, holds
tryouts for the show during the spring semester and plans the
program. Parents organize everything else! Our planning committee
is in pretty good shape but mostly consists of junior and senior
parents. We would love for some freshman and sophomore parents to
join us so that we have a solid base for next year. We are a fun
group and this is a great event, so please consider joining the
Coffeehouse is a PFLASA community event organized by parent
volunteers. It is not a fundraiser for PFLASA. Coffeehouse is
intended to be a self-sufficient event. The event costs are covered
by donations for wristbands and sponsorship donations. Food
and drinks are donated by LASA families and students and are
complimentary that night (old school potluck).

The LBJ/LASA PTSA is looking for officers for the 2017-18 school
year. We support whole campus events as well as organize
staff appreciation, Project Graduation, Reflections, and

serve another year and other officers are willing to stay on and

Elections from the floor will be held at the PTSA

cafeteria. Do not need to be present to be
elected but need to consent ahead of time to the nomination.

Did you know that you can give to the LBJ/LASA PTSA by just buying
groceries at Randalls? Through the Good Neighbor Program a portion
of the proceeds of your grocery bill will go to the PTSA if you are

April 24-28 is Administrative
Professionals week, and PTSA will be giving an appreciation
gift card to all of the LBJ/LASA administrative professionals.
