The National Merit process started with more than 1.6 million
juniors in 22,000 schools who took the Preliminary SAT test in
2015; semifinalists were the highest-scoring participants. The
nationwide pool of semifinalists, which represents less than one
percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring
entrants in each state. We are proud that of AISD's 38
Semi-finalists, 24 attend LASA.
